The Farm Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the operations of our farm, including creating and implementing an annual work plan and crop plan; managing daily farm activities; general maintenance and oversight responsibilities; and managing the farm staff.

Key Responsibilities:

●     Manage, hire, supervise, train and schedule farm employees

Role Description

We are hiring a hands-on Director of Supply Chain & Production to build and scale our end-to-end supply chain and manufacturing operations. This leader will own production execution—ensuring builds happen on schedule, materials arrive when needed, and customer and investor milestones are met without surprises.

You will drive disciplined production planning, enforce accountability across suppliers and internal teams, and remove blockers before they impact timelines. In a startup environment where resources are tight and priorities shift, you bring structure without slowing momentum. Execution matters here—meeting build schedules, delivering units on time, and scaling cleanly from prototype through volume production.

Core Responsibilities

• Own the full supply chain lifecycle: sourcing, procurement, supplier development, planning, logistics, and cost control
• Lead production ramp from pilot builds to scalable manufacturing (internal and/or contract manufacturers)
• Own supplier quality and incoming inspection systems
• Define and execute contract manufacturing strategy
• Establish spare parts and field service supply architecture

• Develop S&OP and demand planning processes appropriate for a scaling startup

• Develop operational processes for parts inventory, ordering, and supporting a dealer network.

• Proven experience scaling from NPI/prototype to volume manufacturing
• Demonstrated success negotiating multi-million-dollar supplier agreements
• Strong production execution background with a track record of delivering against aggressive timelines
• Experienced team builder who attracts, develops, and retains high-performing talent
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building systems from scratch

Job role, responsibilities and relationships

The focus of this role is primarily on shellfish water quality, but there are opportunities for the job holder to also support our climate change, food safety, and marine environment priorities, depending on their skills and expertise.

You will be responsible for managing our Seafish Expert Panel and helping Seafish to build research partnerships to ensure Seafish has access to appropriate research expertise to support its work programme. You will be also required to work with a broad range of stakeholders in this role; from shellfish producers to seafood processors to regulators to researchers, so you must have persuasive communication and influencing skills.

The role requires the job holder to be comfortable working in technically complex areas and to be able to communicate important information to non-technical audiences.

The main dimensions of the role are:

• Support the aquaculture sector to navigate a complex regulatory environment, to realise the potential growth in trade opportunities in the UK and abroad, and to ensure the positive environmental aspects of shellfish aquaculture are understood and valued.
• Contribute to the delivery of priorities in the Seafish Corporate Plan 2023-28, by providing science and regulatory advice, guidance, and expertise across key priority areas. All roles within Seafish are classified and have defined salary bands. This role sits within Job Family C in our pay structure, and the starting salary is at £41,000. A new member’s appointment on the pay structure is dependent on the experience they bring to the role when they start. New candidates normally start at the lower end of the range unless they can demonstrate considerable experience in the requirements of the role.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this senior academic position advances JCU’s strategic priority of strengthening the resilience of tropical coastal and island communities to climate change. Established under the JCU Horizons Program, the role will be initially appointed as a research-focused role for the first three years, and it will transition to a balanced teaching and research position thereafter. • Conducts endangered and invasive species management, nature-based solutions, blue carbon initiatives, and wetlands and eelgrass restoration and enhancement.
• Implements the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan for San Diego Bay; conducts environmental education programs; maintains a wetland mitigation bank; ensures compliance with reporting requirements.
  
  

• Assists in a variety of planning and development work to inform aquaculture and blue economy opportunities in and around San Diego Bay.
• Assists in the creation, early development, and initial scaling of sustainable aquaculture and Port-related blue technology ventures; seeks innovative aquaculture and blue technology proposals to address Port environmental challenges and inform future blue economy opportunities.
• Assists in building a Blue Economy Portfolio of new businesses and partnerships that deliver multiple social, environmental, and economic co-benefits to the Port and the region; assists with creating synergies with, and informing, other environmental and economic programs throughout the Port and region.
• Conducts programmatic planning to support land and ocean-based aquaculture and blue economy opportunities; leads specialized studies to inform programmatic planning initiatives; manages partnerships, innovation, entrepreneurship, and impact-driven platforms to advance a variety of blue economy strategic priorities.
  
  

• Assists with overseeing programs that reduce environmental pollutants and protect and enhance the environmental health of the San Diego Bay and the tidelands.
• Conducts investigations and monitors water, sediment, and marine life; conducts site assessments, remediation, and Hazardous Waste Management programs.
• Participates in stormwater permitting, environmental regulatory compliance, and National Discharge Pollutant Elimination System (NPDES) permits.
• Conducts site assessments and field investigations; reviews project development plans; conducts field sampling and other environmental surveys; oversees waste and hazardous waste management programs and clean-up/mitigation efforts.
• Compiles and analyzes data and prepares reports regarding environmental outreach and education efforts to a variety of audiences; prepares environmental findings and makes recommendations for courses of action or enforcement.
  
  

• Principles, theories, methods, and techniques of aquaculture, air quality, blue technology, environmental, hazardous waste management, natural resources, remediation, site assessment, stormwater, sustainability, and water and sediment quality programs .

• Environmental Analyst I/II: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in aquaculture, biology, marine studies, environmental sciences and/or policy, natural resources management, or a closely related field.
  
  

• Environmental Analyst I: No work experience required.
• Environmental Analyst II: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in analyzing, planning, and/or implementing environmental-related program assignments.
