MTS Software Development Eng – Devops

Our team designs and maintains large scale build, test, and deployment infrastructure for Windows and Linux environments on x86 and ARM platforms. Our systems are utilized during all stages of product development across multiple client sites and include distributed CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, container orchestration, and monitoring systems to track millions of records generated by thousands of systems. We are constantly adapting our DevOps practices (e.g. continuous integration, continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, automated testing, canary/blue green deployments, code reviews) to manage the challenges we accept.

We are looking for someone experienced with designing and operating robust, scalable infrastructure and automation, comfortable with both Windows and Linux. Experience with containers, cloud platforms, and modern observability stacks is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment across multiple platforms and environments

• Design, build, and operate containerized environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) for development, testing, and production workloads

What You will be Doing:

Cybersecurity Responsibilities

• Coordinate the deployment, integration and configuration of security software in alignment with security and privacy policies.
• In collaboration with an external vendor, use regular system scans to discover, test and track vulnerabilities across the organization.
• Perform regular security health checks on infrastructure and application controls.
• Collaborate with IT team members to prioritize and implement remediation activities.

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer with strong experience in cloud platforms (AWS or GCP) to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data infrastructure. The ideal candidate has solid hands-on experience in data engineering, good English communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines (batch and/or streaming).
• Build and maintain data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT processes on AWS or GCP.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver reliable data solutions.
• Ensure data quality, data integrity, and system performance.
• Implement monitoring, logging, and automation for data workflows.
• Participate in architecture design and continuously improve data platform scalability and security.
• Document technical designs, processes, and best practices.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related fields.
• At least 3 years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles.
• Hands-on experience with AWS or GCP data services (e.g., S3/Redshift/Glue/EMR or GCS/BigQuery/Dataflow/Dataproc).
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or Scala.
• Experience with big data frameworks such as Spark (PySpark is a plus).
• Good understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and ETL design patterns.
• Experience working with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) is a plus.
• Good English communication skills (able to work directly with international clients or teams).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.

Nice to Have

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments.

About the Role

As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that integrate NGS, clinical, pregnancy, and operational data from multiple sources. You will work closely with AI engineers, bioinformaticians, data scientists, clinicians, and product teams to ensure data is accurate, traceable, validated, and ready for modeling and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliable ETL/ELT data pipelines for clinical, laboratory, and NGS-related data.
• Ingest and integrate data from heterogeneous sources (LIMS, EMR/EHR extracts, CSV/Excel, APIs, databases).
• Clean, normalize, and standardize real-world medical and pregnancy data with high missingness and inconsistency.
• Define and maintain canonical schemas, data dictionaries, and standardized feature definitions.
• Implement automated data validation rules (completeness, consistency, range, temporal logic).
• Build data quality monitoring, logging, and alerting for production pipelines.
• Ensure data lineage, traceability, and auditability to support clinical research and compliance needs.
• Optimize data storage formats, partitioning, and query performance for analytics and AI workloads.
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) to assess data quality, distributions, bias, and cohort characteristics.
• Build basic features and baseline models (e.g., logistic regression, tree-based models) to validate data signals and support analysis.
• Collaborate closely with AI engineers, data scientists, clinicians, and operations teams to deliver analysis-ready, trustworthy datasets.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python for data processing, validation, exploratory analysis, and basic modeling.
• Solid experience with SQL and relational or analytical databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, BigQuery, DuckDB).
• Hands-on experience building, operating, and maintaining production-grade data pipelines end-to-end.
• Experience with data processing libraries such as Polars or Pandas.
• Familiarity with workflow orchestration or scheduling tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, cron).
• Prior experience working with medical, clinical, biotech, or life-sciences data.
• Understanding of real-world healthcare data challenges (missing data, inconsistent coding, bias).
• Strong ownership mindset with attention to data quality, correctness, and reproducibility.
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical teams and clinical or operational stakeholders.

• Liaise with other team and follow the processes to complete assigned task on time.
• Manage incidents and Problem Investigation ensure they will be resolved within SLA
• Raise and follow up Infrastructure Change Request. Join CAB meetings and represent proposed change….
• Review, follow up, and implement requested tasks.

Main duties of job:

• Monitoring and maintaining Infrastructure environments to agreed service levels
• Managing incidents and problems appropriately within agreed service levels
• Creating and performing authorized changes to customer environments, attending CABs where necessary
• Perform root cause analysis on reoccurring incidents
• Ensure technical documentation is completed and updated to professional standards
• Scheduled maintenance and patching of Infrastructure environments as necessary
• Contribute to the continuous improvement programs of all technology platforms across the datacenter
