Role Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized and computer-savvy outside Sales Assitant with exceptional sales, customer service skills and a passion for fine foods. The Gourmet Food Sales Associate will manage and maintain relationships with existing clients, develop new business through inbound and outbound sales calls/visits, prospect and enter leads into our CRM system, assist with order fulfillment and participate in training and traveling as needed.

Strong observational skills and attention to detail are essential.

Position Requirements and Experience:

• Prior work experience involving animal care is strongly preferred. College course work in a suitable animal-related field may be substituted for work experience.


• Must follow all safety Policies and Procedures of the Indianapolis Zoo.


• Professional experience in animal training, care, and conservation preferred.

• Must be able to work with a variety of fish and marine invertebrate species.


• Knowledge of water quality, testing procedures and nitrogen cycle is preferred but not required.

• The ability to perform daily husbandry tasks and manual work involving the care and maintenance of the animals and exhibits under this position's care.


• Primarily an indoor setting but occasionally will be exposed to outdoor environment and conditions to move from building to building.

• Review BOMs, technical documentation, and service history to ensure accurate part identification and matching.

• Evaluate part substitution options and collaborate with engineering or technical teams as needed.
• Act as a liaison with headquarters or external vendors on part changes, updates, quality issues, or complaints.
• Inventory & System Management
• Maintain accurate electronic inventory records for the U.S. warehouse, ensuring real-time tracking of inbound, outbound, and on-hand inventory.
• Use ERP or inventory systems to monitor availability, track demand, and support procurement or transfer requests.
• Lead or support quarterly inventory counts, analyze discrepancies, and assist with corrective actions.
• Prepare inventory reports on stock turnover, slow-moving items, and critical part readiness.
• Process Improvement & Technical Support
• Support the development of recommended spare parts kits for new machines or preventive maintenance programs.

• Ensure that required work has appropriate Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety & Environmental Analysis (JSEA), Take 5, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and Management of Change (MOC)
