• 2+ years of PHP/Java web application software engineering experience.
• Solid working knowledge of MySQL or PostgreSQL - you can write efficient queries and understand indexing basics.
• Exposure to event-driven architectures and/or microservices concepts; hands-on experience is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with modern infrastructure tooling (e.g., DataDog, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS).

Senior Software Engineer - Identity and Access Management

Location: Ireland

You’ll join our new IAM team responsible for building and shipping authentication, authorization and integration credential features to our customers, but, as a small but growing software engineering organization, this role is not strictly limited to any single part of our product or stack. You'll also use your skills to improve the scalability of our authentication processes, observability of issues during incidents, and ensuring we’re aligning with best in class security practices.

This role is about more than writing code: you'll have an influential voice in shaping our technical direction, our product, and our culture. We have a hugely supportive and collaborative engineering team that takes great pride in the work we do and the challenges we solve. You can work fully remotely from anywhere in Ireland, and also make use of our office space in Dublin as much as you want.

What You Will Be Doing

• Work closely with colleagues to build the right solutions to the problems our customers face.
• Make valuable changes in our codebase in your first week, and see them live in production minutes after merging them.
• Write and review high quality, well tested code to ensure that we’re creating a stable product for our customers, and a stress-free codebase for ourselves.
• Identify areas for improvement, both in our codebase and in how we work, and share the responsibility of making our team better.
• Own the problems you’re solving - and the software you write to solve them - all the way to production and beyond, responding to customer feedback to improve those solutions.
• Use your knowledge and experience to mentor other engineers in our team, providing support and guidance to help them grow their abilities.
• Help prioritize our roadmap, identifying how we can use our time pragmatically and effectively.

Projects You Might Work On

• Leading the work to introduce entirely new login, authentication and session features, like login recovery codes and impersonation, from proposing the ideas and early tech plans through to final UI fixes.
• Ensuring that enabling our integration layer is as simple and seamless, including experience improvements.
• Collaborating with our Product, Design and Customer Success teams to ship enhancements to our role based access platform, including new permissions, and iterate on them in response to feedback.
• Elevating customers’ Tines environment monitoring by boosting audit logging capabilities, like providing native export ability to tools like Splunk.
• Creating a Tines story for developers to replicate customer bugs with local configuration of SSO, SCIM and JIT for user authentication and provisioning.

Proven track record of success as a senior software engineer. This is a senior role and we’re looking for candidates with a well of experience to draw from.

• You’ll need to have a proven track record of building and delivering software using a high-level programming language. Our interview process includes assessing your technical competence through Byteboard so you should feel completely comfortable working at the commensurate technical level. Our main languages are Ruby and TypeScript, but you don’t have to be familiar with those - we value curiosity and an eagerness to learn. We’ll also cover the cost of education material to bring you up to speed.
• Your abilities matter, not your education or exactly where you’ve worked. We just need you to show us that you have accumulated the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
• Strong IAM domain knowledge and experience of building secure, scalable identity and access control systems for cloud-based applications.
• This role is broad, not specialized. You’ll work right across our full stack, backend and frontend. You don’t need to have expertise in all areas of our stack (no one on the team does), but you will need to be comfortable pitching in anywhere when needed, with the support of your teammates. This allows us to be more effective as a team, and provides a lot of opportunities for you to learn.

Engineering Manager - Cloud & IT – Your role:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager – Cloud & IT to lead and scale our Cloud Operations and Centre of Excellence (CCoE). Reporting to Head of Engineering, you'll lead a team of 3-5 engineers while building the foundations for enterprise-grade cloud operations across our multi-cloud infrastructure, where customer systems are hosted on AWS and shared application services are hosted on Azure, connected via API integration.

This role combines strategic leadership (team development, roadmap planning, stakeholder management) with hands-on technical expertise to drive best practices across CloudOps, SecOps, FinOps, DevOps, Observability, Infrastructure, IT Support, and Release Management. You will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, security, and cost efficiency of our infrastructure while enabling the engineering organization to ship faster and more reliably as we scale. You will also drive the adoption of AI and automation across operational workflows, using AI‑powered tooling, predictive analytics, and intelligent automation to enhance reliability, performance, and support efficiency.

Your responsibilities:

Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) Leadership

• Lead and scale the CCoE, ensuring alignment with cloud architecture best practices and company strategic goals.
• Build and oversee core functions:
• CloudOps – Scalable and reliable cloud operations.
• Observability – Proactive monitoring, logging, and alerting.
• SecOps – Security best practices, compliance, and risk mitigation.
• FinOps – Cost governance and cloud spend optimization.
• ProdOps – 3rd level support, SaaS platform upgrades, and customer environment management.
• Drive automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement through infrastructure-as-code and self-service cloud management.
• Foster collaboration with engineering, security, and finance teams to integrate cloud best practices into operations.
• Create a high-performing and collaborative culture, mentoring and developing the team.
• Leverage AI models to optimise cloud cost, performance, and security in partnership with CloudOps, FinOps, and SecOps teams (aligns well with CloudOps, Observability, SecOps and FinOps already listed).

Operational Excellence

• Ensure the stability, scalability, and security of all infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Enforce and enrich cloud governance policies, ensuring compliance with GDPR, SOC1, SOC2, ISO 27001, and other standards.
• Implement observability and site reliability engineering (SRE) practices for real-time system performance monitoring and proactive issue resolution.
• Budget management for Cloud and IT

Hands-On Contribution

• Provide technical leadership and troubleshoot complex issues when needed.
• Utilise AI‑powered diagnostic, observability, and incident‑response tools to accelerate troubleshooting, improve mean‑time‑to‑resolution, and support long‑term reliability strategies.
• Develop automated monitoring and alerting systems to enhance operational resilience.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

• Align cloud operations with business needs, partnering with product, engineering, and customer success teams.
• Champion cost optimization initiatives across engineering teams, partnering with finance on cloud budget management.
• Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers.
• Regularly report on KPIs for operational performance, security posture, and cloud costs.

Your Profile:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or equivalent practical experience. Advanced degree is a plus but not required.
• 8+ years in IT and cloud operations, with at least 3 years in engineering leadership roles.
• Experience leading and scaling a Cloud Centre of Excellence or similar cloud operations function.
• Proven track record managing teams of 5+ engineers, balancing hands-on technical work with strategic oversight.

Technical Expertise

• Deep expertise in AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation/CDK) and/or Azure (VMs, App Services, Azure SQL, ARM/Bicep), with demonstrated ability to optimize costs and operations across both platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, etc.).
• Expertise across FinOps, SecOps, DevOps, and Infrastructure operations.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms, implementing site reliability engineering (SRE) principles to ensure system uptime and transparency.
• Working knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (SOC1, SOC2, GDPR, ISO 27001).

Leadership & Communication

• Proven ability to build, mentor, and scale high-performing technical teams.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
