StrategyBrain Engages with AI Industry Policy at AI Policy Tuesdays

Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to join an insightful session of AI Policy Tuesdays: The Future of Canadian AI Governance hosted at Industrious Office in Toronto. The event was co-organized by Trajectory Labs and AIGS Canada, and brought together researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to examine the current trajectory of artificial intelligence development in Canada.

The session was led by Wim Howson Creutzberg, a national AI policy researcher with expertise in security and international coordination, and Kathrin Gardhouse, Policy Lead at AIGS Canada and AI Policy Researcher at The Future Society. Together, they guided a deep discussion on the state of Canada’s AI governance, its national policy challenges, and the risks of falling behind in global AI innovation.

StrategyBrain Engages with AI Industry Policy at AI Policy Tuesdays

As CTO of StrategyBrain, I raised a key question during the discussion: What policies currently exist to protect and retain top AI talent in Canada, and how can they be strengthened to encourage innovation at home? The question sparked conversations around the gaps between Canada’s research excellence and the ongoing talent outflow to larger tech ecosystems abroad. While there are national initiatives to fund research and support early-stage development, participants noted the lack of a long-term strategy to secure AI intellectual property and nurture commercial leadership within Canada.

The event highlighted that Canada lacks a unified AI governance structure and continues to miss critical opportunities to scale domestic innovation. Participants also discussed how public investments often stop short of long-term execution, and how regulatory uncertainty and trade dependencies limit proactive policymaking.

At StrategyBrain, we believe this challenge must be met with action, not just analysis. Our company is committed to contributing to Canada’s AI ecosystem by:

  1. Participating in national AI policy dialogues, such as AI Policy Tuesdays, to understand and shape the future direction of the industry.
  2. Collaborating with other innovators and researchers to support a shared vision of ethical, secure, and scalable AI.
  3. Continuing to invest in product development rooted in Canada, with a strong focus on real-world business applications for HR and sales automation.

Canada’s AI leadership will not be preserved through historical reputation alone. It requires industry voices to engage, build, and push forward. StrategyBrain is proud to be part of this effort and looks forward to working alongside both government and private sector leaders to strengthen Canada’s position in the global AI economy.
