Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the Shooting Academy; Wildlife Academy that features everything from safari tours of many zoo animals to dog sledding; Adventure Center, complete with zip lines and climbing wall; and Jeep Off-Road Driving Academy. The adventure center provides a wonderful ski opportunity for families during the wintertime. Nemacolin boasts an internationally acclaimed spa collection and 15 restaurants and lounges, including Lautrec, a Forbes Five Star and AAA Five Diamond restaurant experience. For meetings and events, Nemacolin's 32,000 square feet of conference space includes three ballrooms, a lecture hall and 25 meeting rooms. Nemacolin features a full casino that enhances the resort guest experience. Efforts focused on a resort wide renovation plan that included re-routing and constructing a new main entrance to the resort, renovating and expanding the family pool complex, constructing and marketing the opening of our new 17 Million dollar golf course as well as room renovations and many infrastructure projects. The renovation was over 130 Million dollars. Financially the resort was repositioned and marketed with a brand new strategy changing the customer base and driving the financial results in a positive long-term direction. This is an extremely complicated operation with over 90 departments and a family ownership with many dynamics.

Efforts focused on driving hotel and group sales while also pushing and driving membership sales. The resort received the Forbes 5 Star award just 9 months after my arrival. Sales focus has lead to the best financial performance in the resort’s history.

  • Description: General Manager – The Royal Sonesta Houston is a 485 room AAA Four Diamond hotel located in the area of the Houston Galleria. With 50,000 square feet of meeting space, this hotel is one of the elite locations in Houston for corporate, group and high end catering events. Efforts focused on re-branding this hotel and driving service culture and financial recovery. Directed and carried out the conversion and re-flagging of this hotel. Changed the hotel from Intercontinental Houston to the Royal Sonesta Hotel. This involved all aspects of contracts, branding initiatives, pre-marketing and post marketing activities, all PR work, Budgetary creation and projections as well as all sales efforts. Stabilized hotel staffing after a very disruptive 6 month transition leading up to the conversion. Re-built entire executive team of the hotel as well as Rebuilding the entire sales efforts in the hotel starting with hiring a new Director of Sales and Marketing. Planned and directed $25 million renovation. Including - scope development, meeting space upgrades, introduction of new outlet concept, re-conception of the lounge, all sleeping rooms, exterior and life safety issues including back of house areas.
