Responsibilities:

• Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency, yield, quality, and cost improvements
• Develop, implement, and validate process changes using KPIs, SPC, and trend analysis
• Lead Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement projects and root cause analysis

The Plant Engineer will provide engineering support and project leadership for the plant. The expectation is that this role will spend approximately 60% of the time on project related activities and 40% of the time on plant support activities. At times either activity could exceed expectation. The Plant Engineer I role will include project implementation, production and equipment improvement initiatives and support the daily operations of the plant to ensure all safety and quality goals are achieved.

Responsibilities:

• Project management, project planning, project coordinator, purchasing, and supervision of contractors for various projects to assure completion on a timely basis within budget.
• Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
• Lead and assist management with appropriate training to assure regulatory compliance.
• Report to the Director of Engineering with a dotted line to the Plant Manager.
• Maintain appropriate communication/relationships with all employees, vendors, visitors.
• Provide the necessary safety training to contractors and others as necessary.
• Follow, monitor, and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations, and policies.
• Attend daily production/quality meetings.
• Provide technical support for plant processes and improvements.
• Observe facility operations and assist with problem solving on a regular basis.

• Make sketches, drawings, line layouts, plans etc., and written instructions as necessary to affect equipment maintenance and repair.

Education: BS degree in engineering or technical related area from an accredited college/university; Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred

Related Experience: Proven Engineering experience (3-5 years or more) record of technical / maintenance troubleshooting and project work.

Equipment/Software Skills: Working knowledge in personal computers (Microsoft software necessary, Project management, Microsoft Project preferred) and basic understanding with Allen Bradley PLC. Knowledge of CMMS such as MP2 is a plus.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: None required, any maintenance-related licenses would be a plus such as PE, ASME welding, PLCs, wastewater, etc.

Physical: This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights. Ability to walk distances across facility, climb steps and ladders on occasions, sitting at office desk work, sometimes in cooler atmosphere ( 35-45 degrees) , sometimes in engine room ( + 95 degrees in hot months).

Sensory: Ability to hear, see, speak, smell and touch well is necessary to perform basic essential task.

Mental/Reasoning: Must be able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing demands. Requires strong organizational skills, dependability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Must demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.

SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Plating Process Development Engineering, the Plating Process Development Engineer is responsible for developing and delivering new strategies for improving and optimizing plating and wet etch process and procedures; designing and conducting moderately complex wafer experiments, analyzing the data, and reporting the results; developing and implementing new practices or methodologies which reduce cost and improve operational efficiency; conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective action; developing and implementing procedures for transitioning new products into the production line; and reviewing, updating, and maintaining documentation and process instructions. This position is located in Milpitas, California.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develops and delivers new strategies for improving and optimizing wafer plating and wet etch processes and procedures
• Develops and implements new practices or methodologies which reduce cost and improve operational efficiency
• Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective action if required
• Develops and implements processes or procedures for transitioning new products into the production line
• Monitors and sustains prototype wafers to ensure they move through the plating or wet etch process smoothly

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics, and/or equivalent relevant experience; PhD degree preferred
• One to three years of hands-on experience working in the magnetic recording head, hard disk drive, or semiconductor industry in a thin film plating or process engineering role
• Strong knowledge and experience using JMP, SPC, or similar software
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Applications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of thin film plating and wet etch development and manufacturing processes, practices, and techniques
• Knowledge of wafer fabrication processing techniques and tools

The annual rate for this full-time position is between $121,000.00-$160,000.00 + bonus target + benefits. WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Plating Process Development Engineer works primarily in an office environment from Monday thru Friday. The schedule may be altered from time-to-time to meet business or operational needs; may travel from building-to-building as needed. May also work in a class 100 ESD sensitive wafer fab manufacturing facility; adheres to required safety and dress standards. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, fumes, or vapors and excessive noise from time-to-time while in the wafer manufacturing facility; stands and walks; performs various fine grasping movements, bends, and twists; operates a computer and enters information using a keyboard, operates a telephone, and other office equipment. May occasionally be required to push, pull, or lift 10 or more pounds.

Senior Process Engineer (Remote)

About the Role

A high-growth, innovation‑focused water technology company is seeking a Senior Process Engineer with deep expertise in biological wastewater treatment, including high‑rate anaerobic systems (EGSB, UASB), aerobic membrane bioreactors (MBR), and nutrient removal processes.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment and wants to help design and implement advanced treatment solutions across industrial markets. What You’ll Do

Technical & Process Design

• Serve as a subject matter expert in biological wastewater treatment.
• Lead end‑to‑end system design, installation, start‑up, and commissioning.
• Develop preliminary and final process designs, including:
• High‑rate anaerobic reactors (EGSB, UASB)
• MBR systems (flat-sheet and hollow fiber)
• Aeration systems, clarifiers (SAF/DAF, lamella), pumping stations, chemical dosing, screens, sludge treatment, and post‑treatment systems.

• Create basis‑of‑design documents and O&M manuals.

Project Execution & Support

• Participate in FAT/SAT development and logic reviews with controls engineering.
• Perform on‑site wet testing, inoculation, and start‑up support.
• Troubleshoot biological treatment systems and analyze plant performance.
• Assist procurement with specifications, RFQs, and vendor coordination.
• Support new product development and provide technical feedback to stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Sales, Applications Engineering, and Project Management to support bids, proposals, and active projects.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, or related).
• 10+ years of experience in process design and system integration within water/wastewater or industrial treatment.
• Hands-on experience with anaerobic and aerobic biological treatment systems, including commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Qualifications:

1. Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering, Chemistry or related field.
• Master’s degree is often preferred.

2. Experience

• Project management experience in the pharmaceutical, chemical, or biotech (preferred).
• Experience with clinical trials, drug development, or pharmaceutical manufacturing is highly valued.

3. Skills

Director, Chemical Engineering & Manufacturing
