The CBCP as it is currently structured meets the needs of several stakeholders: students, banks, regulators, the Bauer College of Business, and the City of Houston. Students have the opportunity to participate and learn about banking and are able to enjoy internships and placements at financial institutions. The organizations that are on the board have access to a group of students who understand the scope and business of financial institutions and are especially prepared to join the Credit training program of the Bank. Regulators have access to an informed banking community and a talented pool of graduates. By connecting students with the banks, Bauer College of Business fulfills its role of excellence in education, using “real world” situations to train students. The City of Houston enjoys the increased employment opportunities created via this program. The CBCP Board works with the Dean and faculty of the Bauer College and provides input on curriculum, internships, recruitment, and thought leadership so as to connect the program to industry in ways that are mutually beneficial. The Board serves as an advocate for the CBCP and the Bauer College, and promotes awareness of the student talent developed via the CBCP in the business community and among regulators. The Board contributes to building a strong partnership with the Bauer College through access and entry to the industry for student recruitment, internships and permanent hires, executive education, research, seminars and other initiatives. The Board also assists the dean in seeking public and private financial support for the program. Membership on the Board is by invitation and is at the level of the organization. Board members are expected to have current industry affiliations connected to thesector or to regulatory institutions, and are expected to serve in leadership positions within their organizations.
