The 2004 establishment of the Robert F. Terry Jr. Foundation was inspired by Robert "Bobby" Terry, an eight-year-old boy from Walpole, Massachusetts. In December of 2000, shortly before his third birthday, Bobby was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Over the six years of chemotherapy, surgeries, radiation and countless hospital stays, Bobby, his parents, and his three younger siblings showed resilience beyond most people's imagination. Like most families with children suffering from brain tumors, Bobby actually endured the physical effects of his brain tumor, but his entire family shares in its impact. The affects of pediatric brain tumors reach every aspect of a family's life. Families are permanently impacted emotionally, financially, and physically due their child's illness.Health insurance covers very little financially in the overall care of a child with a brain tumor. Resources beyond insurance via social programs are very limited and they rarely meet the needs of these families during such a difficult time. A stressful and exhaustive situation is often exacerbated by the climbing financial burden a sick child. The goal of the Robert F. Terry Jr. Foundation is to help families experiencing the devastating effects of pediatric brain tumors with financial assistance for non-medical expenses. In relation to other pediatric cancers, the number of children with brain tumors is relatively small thereby limiting the financial assistance and research dollars available. Thanks to the generosity of people like you, over the past four years the Foundation has been able to help over 80 families from the Jimmy Fund Pediatric Brain Tumor Clinic at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute ease their burden during unimaginable circumstances. There is a long way to go to find the cure for pediatric brain tumors, and there is new hope found every day. Our goal is help these families while they wait for the cure.

Our mission is to provide advocacy and aid in the development of a comprehensive community based plan for the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of the month at 9:30am at the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, 100 Bush Blvd, Sanford, FL 32773. The public is always invited to attend. Each year CAPTF produces a Resource Directory that contains information on all of the many resources available in the county that are provided to those in need. Mental Health, Financial Aid, Drug Treatment and Abuse Prevention, Child Safety, Sexual Abuse Treatment, and so much more are listed with contact information to assure every citizen is afforded the ability to get the assistance they need for themselves and their families. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals exist at a unique cross-section of our ever-changing healthcare landscape. With the publication of the Institute of Medicine’s “Report on the Health of LGBT People” and the inclusion of LGBT people as a population of focus in Healthy People 2020, the health concerns of this population have come to the forefront of our medical, social and political thinking. As such, it is imperative that leaders across professional disciplines be well trained and informed about the challenges faced by LGBT individuals when interacting with the healthcare system. The LGBT Health, Policy & Practice Graduate Certificate Program was developed in response to this need with the assistance and consultation of health care and policy professionals in the government and private industry. The first of its kind in applied LGBT health, our program trains current and future healthcare leaders on strategies for addressing LGBT health issues, reducing health disparities for LGBT people, and for moving the field forward toward a more inclusive, equitable state.

A framework for gerontechnology may be seen as a matrix of domains of human activity: health and self-esteem, housing and activities of daily living, communication and governance, mobility and transport, work and leisure, and technology interventions (enhancement and satisfaction, prevention and engagement, compensation and assistance, care and care organisation).
