Indian Warehousing Sector is almost about INR 600 Billion (excluding inventory carrying costs, which amount to another ~INR 5,000 billion).The industry is Growing @ 10% per YOY. Out of this total Warehousing sector the dry warehousing is approx 15% and cold store warehousing is another 15% as far as Agri warehousing is concerned . Warehousing forms a crucial link in the overall logistics value chain. It accounts for ~5% of the Indian logistics market (excluding inventory carrying costs, which amount to another ~30%). This 30 Million MT private space is again operated by two types of entities - National Warehouse Service Providers ( NWSP) & Local Warehouse Owners ( LWO). The share of LWO is very high to the extend of 90% and the NWSP is restricted to only 10% of the Private warehousing space as of now . There is a question on economical viabilities in Agri warehousing because of very low margins being a very high operation oriented business where the major cost is the fixed cost of warehouse rent and manpower deployed for operations .
