Recruitment Difficulty Analysis

Key challenge: This Shores Region Internship combines niche zookeeping disciplines (avian, reptiles, manatee coast, coral, aquarium) with strict timing (within 24 months of graduation) and required credentials (TB test, background check, scuba for diving). The Powell, OH/Columbus area has several universities, but the near-term pool of students willing to commit to a summer internship in aquatic/marine care is small, and competition from other zoos and museums for these same candidates can extend time-to-fill.
