Event last November at the House of Blues, The Greater Boston Beverage Society Inc. is announcing plans to launch the annual Boston Cocktail Summit, the first-ever city-wide cocktail event, on October 4-6, 2012. Part convention, part festival, Boston Cocktail Summit will be a three-day celebration of Greater Boston’s cocktail culture designed to highlight the city’s fascinating history of mixology, New England’s, wineries, and distilleries, and raise funds to help local charities. Boston Cocktail Summit will celebrate the culture of the cocktail with three days of events, parties, trade exhibits, educational seminars, and galas with a style as only Boston can, with proceeds benefitting the newly established Greater Boston Beverage Society Inc. and its selected charitable partners. A consumer event that is open the public, Boston Cocktail Summit will allow all enthusiasts to celebrate, commiserate, learn about, and imbibe great cocktails. Some of the biggest names in mixology will dazzle you with creative and classic cocktails, celebrated chefs will prepare exquisite dinners, the nation’s foremost authorities on spirits, wine and brews will captivate and stimulate your thoughts, all while the entertainment tickles your fancy! The event will appeal to bartenders & mixologists, chefs and others in the hospitality industry, as well as cocktail lovers from all over the country. The idea of the WDTS is based on a concept offering advantages to everybody in the whole whisky chain: to the producers, to the importers, to the retailers and last but not least to the consumer. Principle is that producers send one or more bottles at any for them convenient time. When we have received sufficient bottles (at least 6), we sample them and send them to the tasters (about 20 people from France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg and Switzerland). A few weeks later, the results of the blind tasting are published on the website. This notes can be used by the producers, importers, retailers for their advertisements and the consumer ann refer to them befor purchasing a bottle of whisky.
