Job Summary

Research associate to work on material synthesis, materials characterization, and data analysis. Assist to manage various research activities in the group.

Primary Job Duties And Responsibilities

  • Synthesis and functionalization of commodity polymers.
  • Characterize the morphology and property of polymers and their derived functional inorganics
  • Prepare publications, proposals, and oral and written reports.
  • Travel to user facilities, national labs, and national conferences.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree in polymer science and engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, material science and engineering or closely related discipline.The candidate needs to have experience in polymer physics and engineering. The candidate is expected to be self-motivated and capable of working collaboratively in a team environment.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSA)

  • Solid fundamental knowledge in polymer physics and engineering. Ability to process and characterize polymer materials.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the complex polymer science manuscripts.
  • Ability to respond effectively to sensitive scientific inquiries and mitigate research sponsor concerns.
  • Ability to write scientific articles and prepare/deliver speeches from original research in an innovative style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to program managers, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D degree in polymer science and engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, material science and engineering or closely related discipline. Experience in one or more of the following experiment techniques would be preferred: polyolefin functionalization and characterization.
