Your responsibilities will include harvesting fresh produce, maintaining fields and equipment, and supporting our community distribution efforts. • Field Operations Monitoring

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Forestry / Type 2 Wildfire Crew Member is accountable for:

• Maintaining individual job safety

Position Responsibilities:

• Manage and resolve customer service cases arising through our Zendesk customer service channels, including Talk (telephone), Chat, and Email related to both D2C consumer business support as well as support of consumers buying through wholesale channels.

The Lancet Illustrators are responsible for redrawing and converting author-supplied information graphics, into house style for our family of weekly and monthly titles. We are seeking an individual who can demonstrate having worked extensively on STM journals and understands the demands of working on deadline-driven weekly titles where quality, speed, accuracy, and adherence to detailed and precise house styles are of equal and paramount importance. Please note that this is predominantly a technical/scientific illustration role for which work is governed by established style conventions but may on occasion require some creativity within the bounds of house style. This is not a trainee role as we are looking for someone who can produce high-quality work upon joining.

About The Role

We are looking for a talented Senior Illustrator to join The Lancet team. In this role, you will create high-quality, accurate, and engaging illustrations that support scientific and medical content. You should have strong design skills, attention to detail, and experience working with complex information. The ideal candidate is creative, collaborative, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The role will not be suitable for candidates from graphic design, freehand illustration, or animation backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• To redraw author-supplied material, including general diagrams, graphs, maps, CONSORT diagrams, charts, timelines, forest plots, and cellular/anatomical illustrations into house style, working to tight deadlines in order to ensure the on-time publication of content
• Carry out editorial/author revisions and corrections to illustrations in a timely and efficient manner whilst safeguarding in-house style and conventions
• Montage, resize, crop, retouch, and colour-correct photographs on a fast turnaround ad hoc daily basis
• Adhere closely to detailed illustration style guides, conventions, written procedures, and use of house colour palettes
• Create and maintain a graphic library of Lancet content for future reuse
• Manage workflow using our content management system (WoodWing Studio) and in-house Editorial Management system
• Liaise with Editorial and other Production staff as when appropriate
• Be proactive in formulating fast and innovative solutions regarding illustrations when required

Requirements

• Ability to create complex illustrations from scratch using author-supplied files as source material
• Understanding the importance of precision and adherence to detailed style conventions
• Ability to work well under pressure in a weekly/monthly publishing environment and to be able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances whilst handling multiple pieces of work
• Excellent attention to fine detail and understanding of the importance of style adherence
• Ability to demonstrate extensive skills in Adobe Illustrator in producing precise, accurate, and consistently high-quality work - NOTE a timed illustration test will form part of the interview process
• Understanding of the 4-colour printing process and web publishing
• Excellent and proven Adobe Photoshop skills and demonstrable experience of photo retouching and colour-correction for 4-colour reproduction as well as preparing images for online use

Key Responsibilities

Crop Production & Agronomy

• With the Farm Manager, develop and implement annual cropping plans including field selection, rotations, planting schedules, and variety choice.

Longview Farms is a progressive grower and shipper of a wide variety of Certified Organic fruit and vegetable crops as well as conventional fresh-cut daffodils, daffodil bulbs, pumpkins and hay. We are the largest Certified Organic farm on Vancouver Island, and our produce, flowers and bulbs can be found in several local retail stores throughout Vancouver Island and the mainland. POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting into the Acting Head Grower, the successful candidate will bring a broad expertise in outdoor farming field environments. The Assistant Head Grower’s primary role is to assist the Acting Head Grower in daily management of the farm crew and fields.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Under direction of the Acting Head Grower or his designate, daily monitoring of fields and crops to time implementation of an Integrative Pest and Nutrient Management program that maximizes yields while building up farm diversity and sustainability.
• Helping in managing the farm workers day-to-day field activities; including tracking employee time, utilizing the farm time tracking software and transitioning crew members between tasks throughout the day.
• Reviewing labor requirements and, in coordination with the Acting Head Grower, managing the day-to-day workforce to ensure efficient planning and scheduling of warehouse and field crews.
• Providing training for field workers in all matters related to crop production with an emphasis on the teaching of new, tested industry ideas and personal expertise and experiences.
• Fostering a positive and healthy work environment through continuous mentoring of safety programs and improved working relationships with all employees.
• Working with the Acting Head Grower and the Tractor Operator to help with tractor work as needed, including input spraying, cultivating, planting and other mechanical tasks in the fields.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 3+ years of farm work experience in a similar position.
• Experience in organic crop management of flowers, annual vegetables, and perennial fruit.
• Occupational First Aid Certification.
• Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• Experience with Organic Farming and Food Safety Certifications.
• Forklift experience is an asset.
• A diploma or degree in Horticulture or agriculture is an asset.
