The idea of partnership 'help for the industry from the industry' was established in Cumbria in 2002. It has developed into a group that includes representatives from major and specialist contractors, small builders, professional bodies, trade associations, training organisations, health and safety consultants, PPE and work equipment suppliers, Local Authorities and Health and Safety Inspectors (HSE). The main objective of the group is to achieve a reduction in accidents and fewer cases of work related ill health through the sharing and dissemination of best practice and information between industry and HSE, as well as maintaining strong links between HSE and the participating representatives. Building on success, the Initiative has been taken forward under the Working Well Together (WWT) Campaign. One of the successes of the group is its contribution to the planning and delivery Safety and Health Awareness Days(SHADs).
