SEER is focused on research, education, and economic development directed toward the emerging competitive market of the distributed electrical systems based on renewable energies, mainly photovoltaic and wind energies. In cooperation with both industry and research institutions, SEER carries out research in all competence fields of the electrical renewable energy systems, combining experts on renewable energies, power electronics, power systems, control and information technologies in multi-disciplinary research programmes. The objective of SEER is to conduct leading edge research at internationally excellent level in the fields of distributed electric power systems by making an intensive use of power processing and conditioning systems based on power electronics. The research activities conducted by SEER are primarily focused on renewable energies, mainly to photovoltaic and wind energy, and our mission is: to contribute to the large scale integration of renewable energies into the smart electric power networks of the future. SEER centers its research work in designing controllers and power processors for generation systems based on clean energy sources. Moreover, our concerning about reliability and power quality in distributed power systems based on renewable energy leaded ourselves to design new systems and services to promote the integration of renewable energy sources into the electrical grids, providing new features to support the network and improving the stability during adverse operating conditions. SEER is integrated by 8 PhD researchers, 10 PhD students and 2 technitians belonging to the UPC. In our challenging project we look constantly for new talentous students that might be interested in joining our group in the framework of a PhD, as well as in establishing joint cooperation with other Universities and research centres.

Hydrogen generated from renewable sources will be key in themobility and major element in the energy management of the future.
