While the internet and the public/university libraries provides for an abundant literature presenting THEORIES related to a professional and performant microfinance management, the managers, practitioners, experts and everyone else interested are facing BOTH a scarcity of REAL LIFE MICROFINANCE BEST PRACTICES (papers, manuals, procedures, systems, models, practical case studies, web-links) as well as non-uniform and sometime confusing standards. Therefore I created the MICROFINANCE BEST PRACTICE group, with the aim of promoting and facilitating exchanges of MICROFINANCE/MICROBANKS REAL LIFE, IMPLEMENTED, PROVEN BEST PRACTICES that can be REPLICATED into other FUTURE REAL LIFE MICROFINANCE and MICROBANKS UNDERTAKINGS. This Committee offers attorneys of diverse professional backgrounds opportunities to educate themselves and update their knowledge, as well as to exchange ideas and discuss issues regarding the representation of financial institutions. The Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) is a not-for-profit, public-private partnership whose mission is to help build the sound financial systems needed to support robust market economies in transitional and developing countries. Sound financial infrastructure is essential to support private entrepreneurship, promote job creation, mobilize domestic savings, attract foreign investment and create conditions that promote lasting economic opportunity. FSVC’s core work concentrates on strengthening commercial banking systems, developing central bank capabilities, and building capital markets. Major additional areas of work include improving access to financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), financial inclusion, and strengthening financial sector capacity to combat money laundering and corruption. Another critical area of current work involves advising governments, central banks and financial institutions on effective responses to the challenges of the recent global financial crisis. FSVC structures practical, results-oriented technical assistance and training missions staffed by senior financial sector practitioners who serve as unpaid volunteers. Over the past twenty years, more than 8,000 experts from the international financial, legal and regulatory communities have taken part in 2,200 FSVC missions, reaching 34,000 counterparts in over 50 developing and transition countries. FSVC’s work in recent years has been focused in the Middle East, Russia and other CIS countries, Africa and South Asia. FSVC’s demand-driven approach helps ensure that its work is highly relevant and valued by key reformers in the countries that seek its assistance. By recruiting currently employed professionals at the peak of their careers to serve as volunteers, FSVC is able to provide technical assistance that is objective, independent and state-of-the-art.

South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE) is a cooperative platform launched by the bourses in South Asia with a purpose to promote the development and harmonization of the securities markets in the region. SAFE is a not for profit association having Recognized Body status of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, and is a network exchange association of the World Federation of Exchanges. SAFE stands to prepare and position its member markets for their orderly integration into the global financial system by enhancing the depth, inter-connectivity, integrity and transparency of its member markets. Over the years, SAFE has emerged as a focused platform which provides a channel for bilateral cooperation to the exchange industry and other capital market related institutions of the region. SAFE provides a forum for mutual communication, exchange of information, cooperation & technological assistance to facilitate the process of mobilization of capital within the region, and to accelerate the common economic growth of South Asia. SAFE also aims to mobilize domestic savings in our respective countries and works for the adoption of the best consumer/investor protection standards in the region. Towards this end, SAFE makes regular efforts for the spread of financial knowledge/awareness in the region. The Federation also aspires to build the skills and expertise for the effective management of our markets through various regular activities and initiatives both independently as well as with other international entities. SAFE comprises of thirty four (34) member entities from the SAARC Region (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) as well as from Kazakhstan, Mauritius and UAE; fifteen regional stock &exchanges as Primary Members; nine Associate Members comprising of non regional exchanges, and regional depository & clearing institutions, seven Affiliate Members and four Affiliate Associations.
