The NPSIA Alumni Associations aims to strengthen the ties between alumni, staff and current students. The Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) offers the most comprehensive advanced degree programs inat the Master’s and Doctoral levels in Canada. Our unique interdisciplinary approach integrates disciplines such as political science, economics, law, sociology, public health, and history to equip students with a broad understanding of the complex global environment. For nearly 60 years, NPSIA has been training Canada’s best graduate students in international affairs. We currently have over 3,000 alumni, several holding key positions in the Canadian public service, foreign governments, international organizations, and various sectors. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s International Affairs Division Alumni Group provides former employees with an opportunity to form a network with other alumni and current employees of the division. We serve as a forum that offers resources and communication through a network that reconnects and engages those who have the shared experience of working at the Chamber’sDivision. Opened in 2016, the Graduate Centre in Governance and International Affairs offers postgraduate programs in International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies, and Governance and Public Policy. The Centre also houses the School’s HDR students and the Rotary Centre for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution, one of only seven in the world. When opening the new Centre, the then Head of School Associate Professor Richard Devetak said the Centre offers students the opportunity to be part of a collaborative learning hub. “The focus is on enhancing the student experience, extending learning beyond the classroom and exposing students to an international community of scholars and practitioners,” Dr Devetak said. “Students will have opportunities to participate in interactive group activities and learning simulations; to build skills, and to avail themselves of international exchange and internship opportunities.There will also be masterclasses and research engagement opportunities with UQ and visiting academics.” The School of Political Science and International Studies is at the forefront of teaching and research in Australia and enjoys a strong international reputation.
