Welcome to the University of Tulsa Student Investment Fund (SIF). The SIF was established in 1997 and currently has more than $4,000,000 in assets. The purpose of the fund is to provide students with the opportunity to obtain a real-world experience in the process of managing investment portfolios. Students are able to applytheories and models in making real investment decisitons and managing a real portfolio of financial assets. Students can buy and sell securities, learn about asset allocations, and manythings. The class has a student body elected Executive Officer and Secretary and sports four working committees: Portfolio Accounting and Risk, Macro Economic, Membership/Public Relations and Operations/MIS. Each committee has a chair elected by the committee members. Class sessions involve: (i) some knowledge transfer from the Faculty Advisor and experts from the industry; (ii) student presentations and reports of committee activities; (iii) investment discussion by students similar to how mutual fund managers discuss their holdings.
