SRUTI, The India Music and Dance Society is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization based in the Philadelphia region and founded in 1986. SRUTI is a volunteer-run organization. Its leadership comprises an elected Board of Directors and several committees. SRUTI publishes an annual magazine Sruti Ranjani and a periodical, Sruti Notes. Every year, around 10 or more world class music and dance recitals are presented during the Spring and Fall seasons by SRUTI in the Greater Philadelphia area including the City, Suburbs and the State of Delaware. Marvin Sands, founder of Canandaigua Wine Company, realized the important role that the arts and culture play in the quality of a community. In 1982, he along with other community leaders founded the Finger Lakes PerformingArts Center, which is located on the Finger Lakes Community College campus. In early 2005, a group of community leaders met with Richard Sands, Chairman of Constellation Brands, and Rob Sands, President & CEO of Constellation Brands, to discuss how his leadership along with others in the community might pull together in continuing Marvin's dream and ensuring that the center "would not go dark." It was then that Constellation took a leadership role in forming the Friends of the CMAC, a not-for-profit 501(c ) (3) organization. This group worked together to keep the "center's lights on." At Tarquin Jones, we believe the creativeis what makes a society whole and rich with culture. At times of hardship, it’s at the core of a community to keep moving through to better days. One of the major choral organizations of the Southeast, the North Carolina Master Chorale has been performing choral-orchestral masterworks for over 75 years. Under the direction of Alfred E. Sturgis since 1993, the Master Chorale presents a diverse repertoire from the Renaissance to Contemporary with ensembles ranging from 16-voices to 170-voices. Our singers, selected by audition, bring a collective wealth of training and experience. The Master Chorale regularly collaborates with symphony orchestras, opera, ballet and touring productions. Music Director and conductor Sturgis holds multiple degrees in music and performed with Robert Shaw in the U.S. and Europe. In addition to the Master Chorale, Maestro Sturgis serves as Music Director for the Carolina Ballet and the Tar River Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2015, the Master Chorale was named Resident Chorus of the North Carolina Symphony.
