Pipeflow is a crude oil pipelines Drag Reducing Agent (DRA). It is a chemical used in crude oil pipelines to increase the flow rate of crude oil, by transforming the flow regime from turbulent flow to laminar flow. It does so by reducing the tension that happens between the crude oil & the walls of pipelines from one side and between the crude oil particles themselves from another side. Thus, upon using it in pipelines, their daily throughput increase. Turning flow into laminar also leads to saving energy needed for the pump to achieve a certain flow rate. Thus, even though customers might not need to increase their pipeline throughput, however, they would like to decrease energy costs. What makes MaxFlow superior over other DRAs is that it is the only DRA worldwide that liquifies asphaltenes, paraffin, and the other waxes that build up in pipelines. In, high shear force occurs at regulating valves, bends, and pipe tees. Thus, if there are many shearing force-generating spots along the pipeline, more DRA replenishment is required during oil transport. However, what makes PipeFlow special is being shear resistant. Thus, it can hold up high pressures that build up at regulating valves, bends, and pipe tees. MaxFlow won't have any effect on the properties of crude oil as it is used at a very low concentrations (50 to 1,500 ppm).
