Founded in the 1970's by Professor Norman Ashford (University of Loughborough) and Professor William Bell (University of Florida), the International Conference on Mobility and Transport for Elderly and Disabled People has been held twelve times in nine countries. From its roots as a small, specialised meeting of researchers, the Conference today attracts between 600 and 1,000 delegates from up to 40 nations on six continents (see Chronology of Conferences at Annex A). Conference proceedings are a standard reference for researchers, planners and operators alike, and are referenced in the TRB Transport Research Information Database TRID (http://trid.trb.org/). Professionals and end users throughout the world recognize the TRANSED series Conferences as a major forum for scientific and conceptual advances in the pursuit of mobility and access for elderly and disabled people as well as for the dissemination of practical information on policy formation and implementation of advances in our field around the world. In recent times, the Conference has been held every three years, with the exception that the New Delhi Conference in 2012 will be held only two years after the preceding Conference. From the outset, the TRANSED series of Conferences have been held primarily to serve the needs of transport professionals; including researchers, policy makers, planners, administrators and operators. Elected government officials and end users are also key participants at the Conferences. The main objective of the Conference remains to promote and encourage the development of transport services and systems that meet the needs of people with a disability through the exchange and dissemination of knowledge and experience. TRANSED 2015 takes the ambitious goal of enlarging the scope of the conference to all sorts of disabilities and sources of exclusion (e.g. physical, logical/cognitive, economic/financial, temporary/permanent, etc).

We promote the practice, principles, and benefits of ecological restoration. 2. We represent restorationists’ viewpoints and principles on behalf of specific provincial, regional and local restoration-related issues of interest or concern to the Chapter Board and General Assembly of Members. 3. We facilitate the collection and exchange of restoration-related information internally within the SER-Trent Membership, and externally with the wider community. 4. We provide educational opportunities for restoration ecologists and other target groups, to provide information to education-related organizations. 5. We provide a range of additional member services in support of restoration activities and the development of a restoration network in Ontario. 6. We provide a discussion forum to encourage discussion of restoration ethics and philosophy, and to develop guidelines for restoration efforts.

Publishers for Development (PfD) was launched in 2008 and is a joint initiative of The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP). It is a forum for information and discussion around the importance of access to information for development. Through a range of activities, it explores some of the unique challenges developing country libraries, researchers and publishers experience and also provides an opportunity for publishers to keep up-to-date and feed their input into the work all parties are undertaking to lessen the digital divide. Publishers play an important role in contributing to high quality library and information services. They are also a vital component in the global research communication cycle, especially in encouraging the wider dissemination of research and ideas from all members of the international scientific and academic community in which developing country research is currently underrepresented. The forum is designed to: * improve publishers knowledge of the context/specific needs of developing country * bring the developing country research environment to life * generate a greater level of discussion amongst publishers about access, connectivity and software issues * enable publishers to share information about what they are already doing to help increase access, work with developing country researchers and adapt their platforms to operate in a low-bandwidth environment * gain ideas for discussion with editorial/IT colleagues * give publishers a supportive space in which to ask questions * encourage a two-way dialogue with librarians by feeding outcomes/requesting input from the networks in which they are already active

VOLANTE provides an interdisciplinary scientific basis to inform land use and natural resource management policies and decision-making. It is achieving this by advancing knowledge in land system science and using this knowledge to develop a ROADMAP FOR FUTURE LAND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN EUROPE. VOLANTE is designing new methodologies and integrated models to analyse human environment interactions, feedbacks in land use systems, hotspots of land use transitions and identify critical thresholds in land system dynamics. The Roadmap will bring together this science-base with key players in research, policy, business and NGOs, and will be a significant European Science Policy Briefing for the years to come in the promotion of multifunctional and sustainable pathways of land system change. VOLANTE unites researchers with experience and expertise in land use processes and modelling at multiple spatial and temporal scales from different scientific disciplines. Close interaction is being established with relevant decision makers at regional and European level, to enhance the evidence-based and problem oriented science-policy interface. A structured approach has been developed to incorporate the views of a broad set of stakeholders at all stages of the project to inform land use planning and natural resource management policies and decision-making, setting dynamic targets for ecosystem and resource management. The VOLANTE team tackles three major research questions: 1. What are the socio-economic and ecological processes that shape land use transitions in Europe? 2. How can bottom-up and top-down modelling tools be improved and used in a comprehensive way to assess critical thresholds for resource management with reference to land use change and ecosystem services? 3.
