MY HR Career and The Morning Club are two groups within the Branch which directly support members with their own career development. This focus on member’s careers is unusual within the CIPD and the Groups have helped many members back into work after a time out or to enhance their current career or role. The Morning Club was launched in 2016 to help those members, who for various reasons find it difficult to attend our numerous evening and weekend events. Topics arise from what members say they would find helpful to assist getting back into work and it meets informally from 10.00 to 12.00 in central Guildford. It’s suited to any level of CIPD membership and often brings attendees back into the HR sphere and helps to rebuild confidence after a time away. Other attendees having already relaunched careers contribute by inputting to sessions. MyHRCareer provides an opportunity for Members from across the Branch to better manage their careers and achieve the personal growth they seek. We run a number of MyHRCareer Saturday morning study sessions at Guildford College during the year supported by visiting experts. Each session offers a selection of career related learning activities that are informative, interactive, and enable Members to take-away tools and techniques. Topics of the MyHRCareer sessions planned include: Career Self Awareness, CV writing practice, LinkedIn: Profile writing and networking, Interview Practice, Changing roles in your HR career. We want these sessions to provide what you want so let us know so we can include it. We’ve linked these groups together as topics in one group may be helpful to the other etc. and a way of sharing or asking questions of the combined group. People who work together statistically do much better in finding and developing their roles.
