The VDA protects veterinarians, nurses and technologists and other clinic staff from the traumas of all forms of litigation. VDA members are eligible for the superlative professional indemnity and public liability cover provided by its insurance partners at Lloyd’s. The protection services offered to members by the VDA's dovetails seamlessly with the insurance cover provided by its insurers to give the member continuous defence. This starts with advice and guidance with queries, incidents and disputes, through dispute resolution with clients, through drafting of replies to Board complaints to the drafting of pleadings for civil suits through appearance and defence of Board complaints, through applications for review and appeal. In addition, the VDA provides limited labour law advice, related practice management advice and medico-legal advice to Members.The VDA constantly engages with Veterinary Boards in order to bring a more fair and just disciplinary process for its members. The VDA produces a monthly newsletter for all VDA members, containing real case histories, notices and bulletins in order to cultivate a defensive approach to veterinary practice and keep VDA members up to date with all legal and ethical aspects of their daily practice lives.
