Indian Law Institute (ILI) was founded in 1956 primarily with the objective of promoting and conducting legal research. Hon'ble Chief Justice of India is the ex-officio President of the Institute. The Law Minister of Government of India & the Attorney-General for India are its ex-officio Vice Presidents. Third Vice-President is elected by the members of the Governing Council, from among themselves. Judges of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India and High, prominent lawyers, Government officials and Professors of Law are represented in the Governing Council of the Institute. Our fledgling committee is currently made up of solicitors and barristers working in both the property & affairs and welfare fields. All our committee members serve in a voluntary capacity. The honorary officers include a Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. We will be looking to diversify our committee to be more representative of practitioners involved with the Court of Protection, to include for example advocates, best interests assessors, and experts, at the next formal election in February 2017.
