THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF INVESTIGATIVE SPECIALISTS is a network of professional private investigators, auto repossession agents, bail bondsmen and bail recover agents, security professionals, law enforcement professionals and other related professionals involved in the security and investigative trades.

The American Bar Association Standing Committee on Law and National Security, founded in 1962 by then-ABA President and later Supreme Court Justice Lewis J. Powell, conducts studies, sponsors programs and conferences, and administers working groups on law and national security-related issues. The Committee's activities assist policymakers, educate lawyers, the media and the public, and enable the Committee to make recommendations to the ABA. The Standing Committee provides research and advice on such subjects as the legal responses to terrorism, the restructuring of the intelligence community and its role in law enforcement, and operational international law in the conduct of the military.

The NITSIG was created in 2014 to function as a National Insider Threat Information Sharing & Analysis Center, as no such ISAC existed. The NITSIG has been successful in bringing together Insider Risk Management (IRM) professionals and other security professionals from the U.S. Government, universities and private sector businesses, to enhance the collaboration and sharing of information, best practices and resources related to IRM. This has enabled the NITSIG membership to be much more effective in identifying, responding to and mitigating Insider Risks and Threats. The NITSIG membership (Free) is the largest network (1000+) of IRM professionals in the U.S. and globally. Our member’s willingness to share information has been the driving force that has made the NITSIG very successful. H.R. 3183 (2010 appropriations bill) required that “...the Secretary shall establish an independent national energy sector cyber security organization...” In response, the Department of Energy issued a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) on March 31, 2010. Two organizations received awards under this FOA. EnergySec was selected to form the National Electric Sector Cybersecurity Organization (NESCO). The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) was selected as a research and analysis resource to this organization. The purpose of this award is to “establish a National Electric Sector Cybersecurity Organization that has the knowledge, capabilities, and experience to protect the electric grid and enhance integration of smart grid technologies that are adequately protected against cyber attacks.” In addition, the organization “will serve as a focal point to bring together domestic and international experts, developers, and users who will assess and test the security of novel technology, architectures, and applications.”

This is a group for scientists whose research has impacts on and implications for national and homeland security policy. It serves to help scientists to identify collaborators and for those in the policy community to identify experts.

The Consortium is a federally funded group with a mission and goal to increase communication and awareness of cyber security for the local community. The national and international security communities understands these risks, and have already taken meaningful actions to address them. But progress in mitigating, preventing, preparing for, and adapting to these risks will require that policy-makers, thought leaders and the public take them seriously. This group is a place to share information on this issue and to discuss such matters.

ASIS - National Capital Chapter is the DC metropolitain chapter of ASIS International. ASIS is the premiere organization for security professionals, with more than 36,000 members worldwide. The UCL Department of Security and Crime Science (which grew out of the UCL Jill Dando Institute of Security and Crime Science) is the first university department in the world devoted specifically to reducing crime and other risks to personal and national security. It does this through teaching, research, public policy analysis and by the dissemination of evidence-based information on crime reduction and security enhancement. Our mission is to change policy and practice in the areas of crime and security.
