BADA: Who We Are, What We Do Mission Statement: The California Dietetic Association, Bay Area District, is the advocate of the dietetic profession, serving the public through the promotion of optimal nutrition, health and well-being. What is BADA? With nearly 300 members and still growing, the Bay Area Dietetic Association is one of the 10 districtaffiliated with the California Dietetic Association. The Bay Area district includes: Alameda, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Marin, Mendocino, Napa, San Francisco, and Sonoma. BADA Members Approximately 68 percent of BADA's members are active registered dietitians and 22 percent are associates/students. Members include clinical and community dietetics professionals, consultants, food service managers, educators, researchers, dietetic technicians and students. BADA members represent a range of practice areas and interests including public health; sports nutrition; medical nutrition therapy; diet counseling, cholesterol reduction, diabetes, heart and kidney disease; vegetarianism; food service management in, hospitals, restaurants, long-term care facilities and education systems; education of other health-care professionals; and scientific research.

The Association of Black Health-System Pharmacists (ABHP) is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors elected by its membership. The ABHP was first established in December 1978 in San Antonio, Texas. A small group of black pharmacists conceived and developed the idea of facilitating communication between, providing a forum for, and pooling the resources of Black hospital pharmacists. The ABHP was later incorporated under the District of Columbia law in March 1985. ABHP’saffairs and services are administered and managed by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors publishes the ABHP’s principal place of business and other offices and place of business inside and outside the District of Columbia. Its membership includes primarily pharmacists, as well as, pharmacy students, residents, fellows and pharmacy technicians. It has no salaried staff or regional chapters at this time. The ABHP strives to represents Black and minority health-system pharmacists and is dedicated to the growth and development of their pharmacy practice in health care facilities. The association provides up-to-date educational programs on minority health issues to help members improve their professional skills and the quality of care that they provide in their area of pharmacy practice. The ABHP serves as a liaison and facilitates communication with other pharmaceutical, and organizations concerned with health care.
