The mission of the nonprofit, nonpartisan World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth is to promote international awareness, understanding and connections to enhance the region's global stature and to prepare North Texans to thrive in our complex world. The World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth is a dynamic organization that brings international awareness and cross-cultural understanding to the North Texas community and presents distinguished international figures year-round for in-depth interpretations of global events. The Council presents around 100 programs annually, primarily focusing on the international aspects of business, politics, culture and foreign policy. With the goal of connecting North Texas with the world, the Council has been educating Metroplex citizens on global affairs since 1951. Today, it serves as a gateway to the world for the region, offering an impressive range of programs and events for the public and its 4,000 members. The Council takes education directly into North Texas schools through its Global Young Leaders Program. Additionally, it coordinates visits to North Texas of delegations and leaders from around the world through the International Visitor Program and the City of Dallas Office of Protocol.

The geographic scope of this committee encompasses all countries in the African continent and the committee has the task of focusing on both legal reform relating to the strengthening of the democratic process and the special opportunities for investment that have recently emerged in various countries. In addition, regional integration and harmonization of laws is of particular interest and importance to the Africa Committee (AC). The Committee’s core objectives are: - Enhance the AC’s contribution to theLaw Section; - Improve services and programs to all members with a particular focus on seasonal meeting programs and standalone programs on the continent and elsewhere; - Increase outreach efforts including contacting local universities, bar associations, businesses, and organizations on the continent as well as reaching out to domestic businesses, universities, and organizations; and - Increase the AC’s presence on the continent and throughout the greater ABA. 'We are one of the most active committees in the ABA's International Law Section. The Committee is comprised of over 400+ practitioners from a variety of fields, including public interest, private practice, academics, and other fields.
