**This group is for student and alumni members of Georgetown Women in International Affairs** GWIA was created as part of a broader initiative by SFS Dean Carol Lancaster to focus on the role of women in international affairs. GWIA is now housed under the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security (GIWPS), which examines and highlights the roles and experiences of women in peace and security worldwide through cutting edge research, global convenings and strategic partnerships. Young Black Professionals in International Affairs (YBPIA) has a purpose of increasing African and African diaspora perspectives, conversation, and participation in both the Elliott School of International Affairs and the field ofoverall through professional & academic development, community, and mentorship. The goal of this student organization is to bring together black students at The George Washington University with the goal of affirming, valuing, and amplifying the voices and concerns of black students in the Elliott School ofon campus, as well as, strengthening and encouraging one another in what can be an alienating field. This organization aims to provide a supportive, enriching environment for fostering intellectual community and facilitating the development of both African and African-American studies and thought.
