Our mission is to improve students' writing and critical thinking skills, empower their self-expression and prepare them for success. Since 2001, WriterCoach Connection has sent teams of trained community volunteers into secondary school English classrooms to work one on one with more than 25,000 students on their writing assignments. In 2014-15, about 725 trained volunteers are working with students in 11in Oakland, Richmond, Berkeley, Albany and El Cerrito. Teams of coaches offer individual writing conferences, to every student in the middle and high school classes we serve, including Englishlearners and special academies. Volunteers receive four hours of in-depth trainings on the strategies and practices they'll need to succeed.

Are you a retired teacher or someone with an interest in teaching English as a Second Language, in and around Melbourne. We are seeking passionate ESL teachers to work in the VET sector within community groups and adult classes setup within primaryfor the parents and friends. Assignments are for 4 months each and taught around primary school hours. No classes on holidays. We have many classes starting and your choice of location and assignment are flexible. · suit retired teachers or mothers who need to fit their work in around school hours · short assignments of 4-6mths 5 hr sessions within school hours · no classes run within term breaks so your holidays, are aligned with school holidays. · teach adults within adult learning rooms in primary schools · this supports the parents and friends of the primary school and blocals who need to learn within this framework. Applicants must have: A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) (please note that TAA & BSZ cannot be accepted); and one of the following options: Option 1: A Bachelor of Education with a TESOL major or equivalent which includes a practicum of at least 60hrs; or Option 2: Bachelor degree plus postgraduate TESOL qualification of at least 100 contact hours including a practicum. Any international qualifications must have official recognition of Australian equivalency to meet the above criteria. Teachers are responsible for developing class activities and assessments in line with the ESL Frameworks.
