Community Youth in Action Network (CYAN) is a youth driven organization that promotes and fosters the value of community service, engagement, wellness, and leadership. CYAN bridges the gap, catalyzes new dialog, captures lessons & skills and creates tools to equip and inspire youth in the local community. In isolation youth cannot engage fully and productively in their communities. Adult mentors, youth serving organizations, schools, community service organizations, corporations and faith based and governmental institutions play a critical role in supporting and empowering young people to engage in all aspects of civic life. It demands openness to new opportunities and fresh attitudes. The Community Youth in Action Network wishes to foster youth engagement and ensure that youth-adult collaboration becomes a cultural norm and everyday civic activity. Social Vision – Expected Outcomes: • To mentor community youth and community members so that youth are compelled to give back. 100 Black Men Of America is a men's civic organization and service club whose stated goal is to educate and empower African American children and teens. As of 2009 the organization has 110 chapters and over 10,000 members in different cities in the United States and throughout the world. The organizations's mission statement is "to improve the quality of life within our communities and enhance educational and economic opportunities for all African Americans. "[1] The organization’s mottos “real men giving real time” and “what they see is what they’ll be” describe the organization's goals of providing positive role models and leaders to guide the next generation of African Americans and other youth. The members are predominantly African American professionals, businessmen, civic leaders and administrators, educators, as well as people from other walks of life. This chapter is on the collegiate level. 3rd and 4th Year students will mentor young African American males in the Charlottesville community. --- The Collegiate 100 is an auxiliary organization to the 100 Black Men of America. The Collegiate 100 membership is drawn primarily from male African–American college students through chapters on university campuses across America. The purpose of the Collegiate 100 is to implement the mentoring and tutoring programs of 100 Black Men. The participants assist the parent organization with the development of the social, emotional, educational, and physical needs of young black males who have few or no positive role models in the communities in which they live. Each Collegiate 100 chapter has an advisor from the faculty or staff of the college or university where the chapter iS located. Each advisor must remain active in the local Chapter of 100 Black Men to ensure that the program operates efficiently and effectively.
