Strengthening Communities Charitable Foundation was founded in 2010. The Foundation implements its social projects on the territory of Ukraine. Thus, communities from 309 villages and 27 towns receive financial and material assistance, consulting services on the implementation of social projects. Since the Foundation was found, UAH 40 million were allocated to support communities. Spheres of the Foundation's activity: - identifying community needs; - consulting services; - legal advise; - community support grants in the sphere of education, health care, culture, sport, municipal improvement, religious life and also military and targeted assistance; - humanitarian aid.

The purpose of the project is the exchange of positive experiences and implementation of best practices in the elderly assistance field. “In motion” recognises the relevance of professionals working in the health and social services sector (white jobs) and of social and welfare strategies to face future challenges. A “training itinerary” across Europe will be carried out: each partner country (France, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey and Italy) is a “stop-over” where operators, local authorities, universities and research centres will confront with one another on a particular issue and share practices, methodologies and innovative solutions for the elderly assistance. Strategies and practices will be developed and exchanged to improve: 1.the quality of life of adult and elderly in their social/environmental context; 2.home/residential care for the elderly; 3.welfare policies and strategies to pursue social and economic equity and sustainability at local and European level. To achieve this, the project aims at: -Improving competences and skills of professionals and institutions operating in the elderly assistance field at different levels; -Creating a practices and competences framework to profile professionals working in the elderly assistance services sector; -Identify strategies, methodologies, instruments and practices favouring an improvement in older people’s lifestyles and assistance services.

United Way of Livingston County provides funding to local health and human service programs. Volunteers representing every interest work hard to prioritize community health and social service needs, then allocate resources based on each program's ability to meet those needs. The annual United Way Campaign appeal runs in the spring from March through May. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) allocates homeless assistance grants to organizations that participate in local homeless assistance program planning networks. Each of these networks is called a Continuum of Care (CoC). CoC committees at the city, county and state level coordinate their efforts to produce annual plans that identify the needs of local homeless, the resources that are currently available in the community to address those needs, and additional resources needed to fill identified gaps. The CoC process is a community-based approach that encourages the creation of collaborative systems to meet the diverse needs of local homeless. To end homelessness, there must be a local process that consolidates and satisfies the need for housing, food, and health care. Once these primary and most basic requirements are met, we need to address the less immediate necessities; Permanent housing, education, and coordination of services within the community, by responding to the needs experienced by homeless individuals and families. Only by providing the supports to the many different needs of those experiencing homelessness can we hope to get these individuals and families housed, keep them housed, and finally end homelessness. We are a collaborative and diverse group of community based social service providers, county and city officials, private citizens, and faith based organizations that began meeting in 2001.
